Ferrari Unveils 488 Pista Spider

Exclusive convertible celebrates 50 years of Prancing Horse drop-tops

Most powerful-ever Ferrari Spider debuts in Frankfurt

The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is the latest chapter in Maranello's ongoing history of open-top V8 sports cars, a story that started with the targa-top version of the 308 GTB in 1977. The new special 488 Pista Spider series - the 50th open-top model produced by the Prancing Horse - is the company's highest-ever performing Ferrari Spider, with a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph) and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 2.85 seconds. It is also the most powerful convertible ever built by Ferrari.

The 488 Pista Spider is powered by a 3.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 720 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 568 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The 488 Pista Spider has a number of aerodynamic features that help to improve its performance and stability, including a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a spoiler. The car also has a carbon fiber roof that is lighter than a traditional steel roof, which helps to reduce the car's weight and improve its handling.
