Olympia 2024 - Breakdance: Raygun now number one in the world rankings

Breakdance will be an Olympic discipline for the first time next year.

The best breakdancers compete in the Breaking for Gold World Series. In the latest ranking, Raygun (Shigeyuki Nakarai) from Japan is now clearly ranked first.

The 19-year-old convinced the judges in all major competitions this year with his power moves. He won both events of the World Series, which ended last weekend in New York. At the same time, he dethroned the previous world ranking leader, b-boy Shigekix (Yuki Nakarai) from Japan.

The German b-boy Flying Machine (Tillmann Nordmann) is ranked 42nd.

The first Olympic breakdance competition will be held in Paris on June 29, 2024.

16 B-Girls and 16 B-Boys will compete in the two competitions. The format provides for a knockout system with battles and a final. The athletes can qualify via the Breaking for Gold World Series 2023.

The Olympic breakdance competition is divided into two disciplines: power moves and top rock. In power moves, the athletes have to impress with spectacular moves on the ground, top rock refers to the basic steps of breakdance that are danced while standing.

The judges rate the performances according to the criteria difficulty, originality, execution, musicality, and flow and presence.
